Acupuncture Diploma Program
Offered as a 1900 hour diploma program, the next set of courses start in April. The curriculum is a balance of theory and practice and includes courses in Human Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology and Fundamentals of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM),  Jing-luo System, Treatment of Disease, Differential Diagnosis,  Acupuncture Points, Oriental Medicine Diagnosis, Auricular Acupuncture, External Techniques, Clean Needle Technique and Needling, Acupuncture Technique, Ethics, Practice Management and Communication Skills, Biomedical Pharmacology, Research Modalities, Chinese and Japanese Acupuncture and Clinical Practicum.

The Goal of Study
The program is designed to prepare the student to become a competent acupuncture practitioner. Graduates of the program can expect to be able to practice acupuncture as a stand-alone therapy or along with their current discipline in a skilled and confident manner.

  • Courses are taught by practicing professionals who have excellent academic qualifications and practical experience. Some instructors are diplomates of the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) from the USA .

  • You will learn acupuncture as an adjunct to your present discipline or as stand-alone form of alternative healthcare.

  • Students will have 650 hours of practical hands-on, supervised Student Clinic.

  • Membership in The Canadian Society of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture (CSCMA) and Traditional Chinese Medicine Physicians Association of Canada (TCMPAC).

  • Both Chinese and Japanese styles are taught in this program by experienced therapists and instructors.
    Membership in the Shiatsu School of Canada Alumni Guild with benefits (business registry on Shiatsu School of Canada web site, newsletter, reduced seminar fees for school sponsored seminars, etc.)

  • Written, oral and practical exams that offer proof of your progress.

  • You will be studying in a school with 20 years experience in teaching  complementary healthcare.

  • Textbook theory AND palpatory skills are emphasized.

  • Acupuncture is less physically demanding than some other modalities, allowing the practitioner a needed change of pace.

  • Most extended health care benefits packages provide coverage for acupuncture.

THIS PROGRAM QUALIFIES FOR 142.5 CEUs (CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS) with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO).
